BACKPACK CAPPADOCIA!

Hai..

1. Naik bas dari Istanbul
2. Naik flight dari Istanbul ke Nevsehir

To get there?

Murah2. Nak booking kena bayar deposit 23%, non-refundable unless add 1 dolar. K camtu sistem dia.
Booking.com : Lagi variety. Free booking tapi ada 8% VAT tax.
airbnb.com : Kalau nak book apartment sekaligus. Tak pernah guna lagi.
Agoda.com : Macam booking.com tapi kena bayar terus.

Makanan?
Hah, kitorang beli sendiri. Ada kedai murah di Goreme tu. BIM atau A101 hypermarket. Kitorang beli roti, cheese, olive, timun, tomato dan poof! Turkish breakfast weh! Haha. Bawak lah pisau sekali dan beli pinggan plastik dan sudu garfu plastik. Nak bawak dari Istanbul pun ok. Lunch dan dinner? Makan kat kedai. Mahal wooo. Average 10TL. Dan sebenarnya di Turki ni, throughout the country kot, makanan dia standard. Tak jumpa lagi makanan khas daerah masing2. Pergi mana2 sama je menu. Jadi kalau nak jimat, prepare lah makanan apa nak buat siap2. Kalau betul on tight budget. Instant mi pun ok. Makan coklat pun boleh. Coklat di sini murah2. :D

So far in general macam tu lah.

Trip?
Bahagian yg di highlight warna tu represent route each tour. Every tour tu jauh gak perjalanan dia. Half day. Start 9 pagi, habis pukul 4 gitu.

Hot Air Balloon?
Oh yeah one of the reason orang ke Cappadocia ni sebab nak naik hot air balloon. Siapa tak nak? Once in a lifetime experience. Aku pun nak.. Tapi belum banyak duit. Haha okay serius. Untuk Hot Air Balloon. Range harga biasanya 100-150 Euro. Euro k bukan TL. Mahal jugak lah. Dan kena pandai cari yang murah. Better ambil masa dah sampai. Banyak je company ada Hot Air Balloon. Selalu di Istanbul masa beli tiket bas diorang cakap diorang offer murah lah, kalau lambat beli nanti habis lah. Padahal banyak je ada. Lagi2 musim sejuk ni, tak ramai sangat yang datang melancong as compared to musim panas. So don't worry kot. Go ask around masa sampai tu. Kitorang ada 2 orang yang naik. Dapat 90 Euro je. Sebab kitorang cakap kitorang student. Haha and they want to sell their product/service ofcourse. Again, kalau tak banyak masa to spend, ambil je lah mana yang offer dulu.

Exploring around?
Exploring around goreme boleh je on foot. Banyak tempat yang walking distance. Dan banyak valley untuk diterokai around Goreme. Love Valley, Red Valley, Rose Valley, Pigeon Valley.

Basikal - 40-60TL sehari sewa
Motor - 60 TL sehari
Kereta - 120 TL sehari
ATV - tak tahu tak tanya.

Tamam. Let's move on to our itinerary sepanjang 3 hari ni.

Hari pertama:

Sesampainya di Cappadocia, kitorang beli makanan, breakfast dan check in. Pukul 12 check in macam biasa. Solat then head keluar. Since some of us nak ambil Green tour, and some of us tak mahu. Jadi end up duduk je mana2 peak dan ambil photo.

Harga masuk ke Goreme open Air Museum is 20TL.

Not bad suhu 5 degree masa kitorang pergi. Fuh fuh keluar asap kitorang main2 dengan asap. Haha.

Contoh fridge magnet kat depan 1- 3TL, 4 - 10TL. Ada yang kitorang jumpa 4 for 5 TL. Lagi murah ye dok? Tapi tak banyak choice lah. Mungkin nak habiskan stok. Tapi takpe lah. Cantik je pun untuk kenang-kenangan. T-shirt pun dapat 15TL dari 25TL. Kitorang tawar-menawar. Tak perlu tahu bahasa turki pun. Tawar menawar is a universal language. Haha. You just need number, and your strategies.

Kitorang beli 5 orang baju yang sama. Ohsem!
Baik lah. Balik dan tidur. Sedia untuk esok!

Hari kedua:

Bangun subuh, breakfast sekejap, terus keluar cepat2 sebab rupanya sebelum matahari terbit lagi belon-belon udara panas dah mula naik. Awesome masa kitorang keluar tu masih gelap lagi. Wooo.. Kitorang hiking Rose Valley, nanti cari peta tengok kat mana Rose Valley ni. 20 minit berjalan dalam sejuk hidung serius pedih, nafas pun sejuk tapi berbaloi bila dapat tengok scenery ni. Sunrise pun atas bukit ni.

Balik tu sambung breakfast dan 5 of us dalam pukul 9 keluar ikut Green Tour. Kenapa berpecah?

Ini antara sebabnya:
5 orang tu nak cover as much as tempat possible, dan senang jugak semua dah tersedia. Jadi we decided to explore on our own.

GREEN Tour. - dalam web tu harga dia lain

(Cost 75TL sebab kitorang ada MuzeKart, tak ambil tiket. 100TL buat yang tak ada MuzeKart)

Tempat cover:
-Panorama Goreme
-Pigeon Valley
-Derinkuyu Underground City
-Ihlara Valley
-Selime Monastry
-Onyx Jewelry Factory

Time: 9.30 am - 4.30 pm.

Sewa kereta: 120TL sehari
Minyak: 40 TL

Museum pass: Free (MuzeKart). Kalau tak ada - Derinkuyu: 20TL, Ihlara Valley: 10TL. Panorama Goreme: Free.

Makan: Kitorang stop by restoran nearby dan cari yang murah. Lunch 4TL, dinner 6TL. 10 TL overall.

Kitorang spend time kat Ihlara Valley sampai sunset. So worth it. Takpe lah. Takde niat nak beli barang kemas pun.
Balik baru jumpa the rest kat hostel.

So kelmarin bahagi 3 orang - sorang spend dalam 50-60TL. Even kalau kena bayar pun, dalam 90TL ye? Dan kalau pergi 5 orang, boleh bahagi banyak on the cost kereta. Lagi murah jugak. Only kena explore lah. Drive sendiri. Kitorang pakai google map, pakai kemahiran membaca peta. Peh tak sangka aku berbakat gak baca peta (Bangga) dan kedua driver dan co-driver kat depan pun jenis orang yang cool. So the journey jadi best lah.

Pergh. Gayat.. Tapi berbaloi, dan takde orang nak halang of course. Haha. Malam lepak kat lounge then tidur. Pemilik hostel kitorang duduk tu sporting gila. Siap boleh minum teh sesuka hati.. Nak buat air panas ke, nak guna computer ke. Dia sempoi je. So tengah sejuk2 tu sambil borak2 ramai2. Best :D

Hari ke 3:

Since kereta kena pulangkan jam 10.30 pagi. Beku. Haha sejuk. Tapi best..
After that sempat juga ke Uchisar Castle di Uchisar. 15 min dari Goreme. Dan dapat scenery ni.. Pergh.. Balik, hantar kereta, check out, breakfast (kitorang masak omelette pergh) dan head out balik ke Istanbul.

Overall? It was an awesome trip.
An amazing experience seriously. Bersama orang yang sekepala. Semua jadi best.

Tapi in the end, masing-masing buat keputusan masing-masing dan semua puas hati. So decide lah, korang jenis traveller macam mana? Plan ahead so that segalanya lancar kat sana. Ni boleh kata trip redah gak ni. Ada planning sikit2 tapi doesn't go the way we expect and we made decision banyak bila kat sana. Sebenarnya nak extend satu hari.. Tapi ulang2 benda sama je, tengok valley, Nak buat pasu (ni tak sempat buat), naik unta, tengok tarian whirling dervish dan mandi turkish bath house, tapi mahal wuu wuuu kami student tak mampu. Bukan on priority list so we skipped this. Ha boleh lah siapa nak pergi consider buat yang kitorang tak buat ni :D

Okay.

Transport (bus): 140TL return
Green tour: 75-100TL
Goreme Open Air Museum: 20TL
Derinkuyu Underground City: 20TL
Ihlara Valley: 10TL
Sewa Basikal: 40-60TL
Sewa Motor: 60TL
Hot Air Balloon: 90-150Euro

8 TIPS TRAVEL UNTUK BACKPACKERS

Ini courtesy abang taveller Krik Alfie

Yang hitam tu dia tulis. Yang merah tu aku pepandai tambah ikut experience aku. K enjoy baca. Aku suka style brader ni tulis.

TIPS TRAVEL.
AMARAN!
- ‘Banyaknya duit kau’ = Aku banyak duit? No! Istilah paling salah! Aku travel dengan berbajet kecil. Semua bajet jalan aku adalah sangat rendah (Under RM1000 ke luar Negara and under RM 500 dalam Negara included all termasuk tiket flight, makan, hotel, transport, ole2, fee tiket dll).Itupun biasanya tak pernah sampai! So how I manage semua tuk travel? This tips untuk korang.Actually semuanya base on how ur manage ur kewangan sahaja!

1) Flight ticket.

Beli tiket awal (flight) total penjimatan boleh cecah 90% dari harga last minit. Contoh tiket flight aku beli ke Jogjakarta Indonesia return ONLY RM 125, tiket flight aku ke Kota Kinabalu Sabah return ONLY RM 70, tiket flight aku ke Langkawi return ONLY RM 30.See, semua orang boleh grab kalau mahu! Usaha la sikit untuk dapatkan informasi pasal sale tiket AA. Tak kan semua mau orang feed semua!Tak tahu tanya! Simple rules.

Betul. Kawan aku dapat tiket JOG-KUL-CGK RM70 je. peh pehh pehhh.. aku pun jeles haha. aku beli ke jogja dpt RM121. tapi travel next year lah. Selalu2 lah update tiket..

2) Nak dekat date
Bila date nak travel sudah dekat (1 months or 2 months) minta la leave awal2 dengan bos!Last minit punya apply sah2 bos pun berat hati nak lepaskan korang. Kalau tempat korang perlu replacement orang, cari geng2 korang awal2! SETTLE!

Kalau tak, travel solo pun okay. Haha lagi best kalau ada kawan kt oversea. Tidur je umah dorang..
Ada sekali tu patut 4 orang nak join sekali sume last minute cancel. Aku tukar plan join budak2 Indonesia naik semeru. Mmg last minute. Takdir menemukan aku dengan group ni. Allah memang nak kasi aku travel :)
Ni aku first solo backpack. Join team budak2 Indonesia naik semeru. Dalam 23 orang aku sorang je Melayu. Masa amek gambar ni aku terpaksa peramahkan diri bajet dah kenal lama untuk hilangkan awkwardness.
Haha naik tak kenal, turun jadi sahabat.

3)Hotel.

4) Itinerary .

Perghhh.. berbaloi..
Siapa tahu tempat ni wujud kt Jogja? pehh pehh pehhh kalau bukan sbb kawan2 lokal yg bawak aku pun tak tahu. Haha nama tmpt ni Ponngok, Jogja

5)Money.

Tukar duit awal2 di tanah air sebab tukaran di Negara kita travel biasanya lagi mahal. Bajet tukaran ikut tabung buluh korang la kan!

Kalau nk belanja byk better guna cara ni. Sbb direct exchange.. bank x amek untung mcm money changer.. cuma kena bayar service charge lah. depending on the bank kita guna. Kalau Maybank RM12.. bank lain lg murah rasanya.. tp takat tu je lah bayar.. tak rugi kt money changer. N tak yah bawak duit banyak2. hehe baru tahu tips ni masa jalan kt istanbul.
5)Pakaian.
Kalau 3 malam jer travel tak payah la bawak baju sampai 7 helai!(base pengalaman bawa kawan! Hew hew hew). 3 pasang cukup ! Bukan korang nak tukar2 baju macam cerita Hindustan kan!hahahahaha

Kalau plan nak beli baju kt oversea pun lg boleh minimize pakaian. Pakai on the spot lepas beli. Time travel lah nak pakai baju I love I love ni.. Haha background tmpt original. Aku buat camtu.. Haha go shopping hari awal2 supaya baju baru beli boleh pakai terus. Hahah

6)Makanan.
Sesetengah orang suka bawa makanan ready food kalau travel ker Negara bukan Islam. Tapi aku redah jer cari or makan apa yang ada as long tak kebulur. Hahahaha.

Go food hunt street food. Berbaloiiii. Tapi tgk kebersihan jugakk..
Pergh nah belanja jagung bakar perisa pedas...

7)Solat.

8)Keselamatan.
Aku akan ambil insurance AXA kalau keluar Negara. Murah dan cover claim sangat luas.Kiraan adalah berdasarkan hari dan Negara. Siap dapat discount lagi 30%! PENTING , kalau keluar Negara ambil insurance since kita tak jangkakan apa terjadi (sesetengah negara bil rawatan sangat tinggi untuk pelancong).

Aku selalunya amek insurans airasia je. Haha..
Panjang sangat menulis, nanti ada masa aku sambung lagi.Aku bukan traveler kental macam sesetengah orang dalam group tapi at least perkongsian itu kan ANUGERAH UNTUK MEREKA YANG TIDAK TAHU.

K thank you penulis asal. :) May Allah bless you..

Surviving Istanbul, Turkey! : 10 Things to Know about the city.

Assalamualaikum. İyi akşamlar!

Alhamdulillah, It has been two weeks now living in Turkey and I have experienced a lot of new stuffs. Which were really interesting and I thought it might be useful to share what I have experienced here with you guys!

So... if any of you are planning to come here, have a look at 10 things you should know when planning your trip to Istanbul, Turkey.

1. CHANGING MONEY

So in Turkey, the currency is calley Turkish Lira (or they usually call it TL. read: teh-LEY). If you'd like to change in Malaysia, most money changer do not have TL (I'm not sure if there is anywhere but you could try look around). Anyway, before I came here, I was adviced to change my money into USD or EURO in Malaysia and later in Turkey, I can change them to TL here. Yep. However using this option would have you losing some money to the money changer.

A better and easier option is to activate your VISA PLUS overseas from your local bank debit card and withdraw your money here. This is quite risky because we cannot make sure if it worked (it has to be tested first to be proven ok) but usually it worked. Most of my Malaysian friends here withdrew their money that way and some even pay using their Malaysian debit card. No charge applied according to them. But paying using card is a bit expensive here as compared to paying cash. Well, it's your choice. You can also bring some money in USD and change it here before finding a bank to withdraw. Having cash with you will also be helpful especially in times of emergency.

Oh yes, some money changer here also accepts MYR but it will be much expensive. (not really worth it but useful tips in emergency cases)

If you'd like to change to dollar, better go change ASAP because MYR is depreciating each and every minute now T_T
Last week 1 TL is 1.41 MYR, and last time I checked today it's 1.48.
Fuhhh.. We just have to bear it. Experience cannot be compared to money I guess. But living here as a student, I have to save a lot to survive. Nevermind, that's the beauty of living abroad. Hahaha #positivethinking

2. LANGUAGE

Before coming to Turkey, it will be very very very very very useful if you learn some basic Turkish. Basics like how to ask directions, numbers and words that would help in case you get lost. Seriously, don't expect people to speak English. Not a lot of people here can speak English. Some yes, but having some language preparation would be helpful. When I first arrived here, if not because of my friend who picked me up from the airport, I would have experienced a minor breakdown. I asked around but nobody seems to understand, and even if some do speak English, it's quite basic. (Based on my two weeks experience so far). I am still struggling here to understand Turkish.

Here is some basic Turkish for you to know.

For those who loves going around:

Ne rede? (Neh-REYde?) - Where?

So to ask direction.. just say the place in front of the question. Example

Metrobus nerede? - Where is metrobus?
Hagia Sofia nerede? - Where is Hagia Sofia?
Tuvalet nerede? - Where is the toilet?

For those who loves to shop:

Ne kadar? (Neh-KAdar?) - How much?

Bu ne kadar? - How much is this?

Learn the numbers as well. Here's a link to learning basic turkish CLICK CLICK

You can bring with you a dictionary if you find it convenient for you. (I don't)
Or worse come to worst, use google translate. Yayy! But you need an internet connection yeah?

Here's how you can get yourself a simcard for a personal mobile data connection.

3. LOCAL SIM CARD

Turkey offers you variety of sim card companies, just like Malaysia. Over here, we have VODAFONE, TURKCELL, AVEA.... the rest I don't remember. But most of my friends suggested me to use AVEA, cheapest for students I guess, and the line coverage is better according to them. A lot of students also used this line so I chose AVEA as my telco line. I still don't understand how the line works here, but when you want to reload, you don't buy prepaid credit, you buy a package. For example 500sms, 500min calls and 1GB internet which costs 22TL, or 1000sms, 1000min calls and 2GB which costs 30TL. Or you can buy them separately, I bought once just 1GB internet data for 15TL because I still have my calls and sms. So yeah, that's how it works.

If you're planning to stay in Turkey more than 2 months, you need to pay a cellphone tax but the procedure is quite detail (ask me more) because the phone number will be blocked if you do not pay your tax. Unless you plan to buy and use the local cellphone meaning, you buy one here. The electronic items in Turkey is much more expensive as compared to Malaysia. Seriously.

Anyway, if you decided to come for a short visit here, then there should be no problem when you want to use the local sim card. So hooray! But you still need to speak turkish when you buy the sim card. If you're lucky you may have people speaking in English. Don't worry too much.

4. ARRIVING AT THE AIRPORT (WHAT TO EXPECT)

So I'll just tell my experience at the airport. FYI, Malaysian can enter Turkey without the need of visa for 3 months. So you don't have to worry much about the visa. But Turkish government always changes their policies. Last time when I called the Turkish Embassy in Malaysia, they said I need to have a student visa. So they asked me to bring certain documents, and after two weeks, I finally managed to settle all documents needed, I went to the Embassy and the person in charge there told me. "No you don't need any visa. The policy just changed last week."

Errr.. Okay. Haha that's what students here had been experiencing for years. Even the procedures to do the resident permit changes frequently. So... better make sure before you come here. Just in case. (I seemed like a paranoid traveler. Omoooo) Hahahaha tak rugi pun double check kan? ;)

Oh yes, arriving at the airport.
Here's my experience. I arrived in Turkey around 10 pm and the line at the border stamping area... is so long.. and what annoys me more is when people cut queues -.- A group of ladies shamelessly cut queue in front of me and probably 20 other people behind me. GROUP, not individual. -.- not just 1 group, few groups. Urghh need to be patient. After 15 hours of long flight, that really annoys me. But I'm too tired to think about it. After passing the immigration border, we (me and a friend of mine) took our bags, and to our surprise, we need to have a Turkish coin to use the trolley, it's not free! Omooo.. I was thinking 'how am I suppose to have a TL coin?'. So we carried our bags and luckily we found one with a coin inserted and we used the trolley. Alhamdulillah.

Wifi? Hmmm.. We thought there would be at least a free wifi at the airport. To our surprise, again.. No wifi service is provided by the airport. Luckily my Malaysian number is still active, and I still have RM8 credit at that time. So I texted my friend's number to tell that we have already arrived. It cost RM2/message. Yeah.. but I'm glad I still have my credit. So we waited in peace.. and finally met our friend. Probably our situation is different, because we are on our own and we do not have any tour companies helping us. So we relied a lot on friends who studied here in Turkey. We were really grateful they were there to help us around.

So.. If you're on your own.. having contact with local friends would assure you some safety especially in a place you are not familiar with. Unless you're brave, and cool enough, then exploring on your own, dealing with the difficulties would surely be a meaningful and fun experience. Heee. As a girl, I still need to feel secure. So I felt blessed having friends who helped me when I first arrived in Turkey.

5. USING THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT.

Public transport is abundance here in Istanbul. There's trams, trains, underwater train (Marmaray), Busses, taxi, minibus and so much more. Go explore them. Download this apps called TRAFI and it will help you to tell which public transport you should use to get to one place. I use it all the time. It will also tell you the ETA and the fare you're gonna use. Anyway, to get around easier.. Go and buy the istanbulkart, you can buy them at any supermarket and any kiosk near the jetty. Ask them "istanbulkart" they will know. Here is how it looks like..

All the public transport here have the same fare and uses the same card. So this is like touch n go. You can reload them at the reload machine near to the ferry or at any shops that sells istanbulkart. Usually mini market would have them.

Reload machine
So go get your card...  and explore!!

6. SAFETY

I've walked around Istanbul alone in the daylight, but not during night. I don't really feel safe. and a lot of friend suggested to stay inside too during night. Walking in groups should be safe. Walking alone... err.. in the daylight, I felt secured, but I am still on alert during night time. Travelling during the day in Istanbul should be no problem. I sometimes went shopping and food hunting on my own, but usually it's with friends. Going alone is still a bit boring for extroverts like me. Hehe.

Yeni Mosque, near to Spice Bazaar

Topkapi park

Eminonu

Anyway, when going to places that are crowded, do be careful. This happened to a friend of mine when she was walking around busy streets. She wasn't aware of her bag and walked around the street and later realized that the bag was already opened, and her purse is gone. Money, IC, bank cards - all gone. Luckily her passport is with her. So alhamdulillah. It didn't happened to me but it is also a lesson for me. Another friend also experienced this - but luckily he doesn't have anything important in the bag, so nothing was taken but he realized that the zip was already opened.

So for me, usually when I walked around in crowd, I would carry my bag pack in front of me and hug it. I won't wear it on my bag. I would also put my purse in the deepest compartment (hardest to reach), and have some money in my pocket enough for me to use throughout the day. I don't need to reach my purse. Another travelling tip: Have your money scattered around. Don't put in one place. Put some in your right pocket, in your left pocket, in one compartment in the bag, etc.. So in case anything happens to you - someone picked your money - you still have some money left. (My dad taught me this)

As for the passport, make sure it’s always with you. Don’t put it in a place where there is a chance of losing it. My dad bought me a waist pouch for me to put my passport and important documents that is important (bank card, IC etc) and I can’t afford to lose when travelling overseas. So when I go out, I have my passport sticking around me. Not in my bag or anywhere else. J Trust me; you wouldn’t want to lose your passport when you travel. Too much hassle if it does. So prevention is better than cure yeah? Again, paranoid traveller here, but useful tip insyaAllah.

All in all, it’s quite safe here. I felt more secured here if I compare to KL, or Bangkok.

Oh yes, what about the people here in Istanbul?

7. LOCAL COMMUNITY.

To me, I’ve been to places around Asia so I’m quite used to the Asian culture – much more collectivist and very friendly. Here, it’s a bit different. The aura is different. When I first came here, I don’t feel much welcomed (the warmness was not felt), I was totally lost at first and people don't seem to bother, and having language as a barrier, it's even harder to communicate. T_T

When walking around the streets, I do feel lonely, most of the times. But I am glad at the same time because I need my time alone. But surely, if people suddenly come to me and ask me random questions I would not feel happy too. Haha. Only that I miss the warmness in Malaysia. I just can't explain how. But I won't generalize. People have different personalities. When going around, I ask local people as well where or how to get to this place and they still entertain me. :)

And I remember giving an auntie a seat in the bus and she really insisted me to sit on her lap. I have to refuse 3 times because she insisted me. But she has a very beautiful smile on her face for me - and I love that.

However it's a different story when it comes to my local friends here. They are so friendly and so helpful. We knew each other for few days but they treat me as if we've known each other for years. Some people can be really friendly. Sometimes they even offer themselves to help me even if I didn't ask for it. So I couldn't really generalize the people here. We'll encounter different types of people and each of them is different. So everybody's experience will be different. What I tell here is only the ones I've experienced so far.

And take note of this as well, there are lots of Syrian refugees here in Istanbul. So the sight of mother and children sleeping on the street, children selling tissues, or playing a musical instrument to raise money for themselves is normal. If you have extra money with you, you could give to them, or better if you have food with you - give it to them. Allahualam. May Allah accept your deed.

8. FOOD HUNT IN ISTANBUL!

Yeahhh. Who doesn't love food hunting? Hehe
This is Manti - Dumplings and yogurt. I like it :D

Turkish Pizza!! Lahmacun. (Lahmajun)
So what to expect when you want to hunt for food here? In istanbul, you can find lots and lots and lots of diners selling kebabs. Hehe it's so basic here. People sell them everywhere. And there's no chili sauce here. If you are a fan of spicy food, and cannot tolerate eating food without the hotness bring small packets of chili sauce from Malaysia. Hehe

You can also have a taste of the local sweet delicacies - Turkish delights and Baklava. They're perfect for someone with a sweet tooth. :)

Simit is also a must-try here. It's the signature bread, you can buy on the street for 1 TL. :)
It's a bread with sesame seeds on it, or you can have one without the sesame seed. I tried once, with Nutella inside. Yummy! Cost me 2TL but I like it. ;)

There are lots of other local foods you can hunt. Since I am living with a tight budget. I haven't tried other local foods since they're quite luxurious. Will do.. from time to time. Hehe. I'm still hunting for Gozleme. A local food here just like Martabak in Malaysia, but the ingredient used is different. See picture hehe. I still haven't found one yet. Or maybe I came across but I didn't notice it. I still got plenty of time to search for them. Hehe.

Well, go hunt for these fooooooodddd..

And yes, chocolates... Umm.. The chocolates here in Istanbul is cheap. For chocolate lovers like me, it's such a huge temptation to not buy all! Haha if only I am not on diet, I would've tried one every day. Haha still, I'm buying them every week. One each week. Ok lah tu.. :D You can buy them at any supermarket.

 9. PRAY TIME?

If you come to Istanbul. Go and pray in the mosque, jamaah if you have the time and opportunity. The mosque here in Istanbul is soooooo nice and peaceful. You can really feel the calmness and peacefulness when you enter the mosque here. The feeling is so nice. You don't have to worry about finding one too. There are lots of mosque here. In shopping malls too you can find musolla and they are very comfortable.

Oh yes, in Istanbul, mosque is called Camii (read: Ja-MIiy) and musolla is called Mescid (read: Mes-JID). So if you want to ask around if there is any mosque or musolla you can ask Mescid/Camii nerede?

Experience too praying in the famous blue mosque. You will love it there. Subhanallah. One thing I love about this city is the mosque. :)

Yeni Camii (The new mosque) located near the coast of Eminonu.

Blue Mosque at the back! :D

10. HISTORICAL PLACES.

I believe one of the reasons people visit Istanbul for the richness of their history. The famous Hagia Sofia, Blue mosque and other buildings which were significant for their historical values. There are lots of museums here in Istanbul. If you are really interested in learning the histories here, I suggest you to purchase the Muze Kart. In the website it cost 85TL and it's valid for 5 days. You can enter many museums with that card. So spend your whole 5 days in the museums! Make it worth. Hehe. :)

Public transport are mostly accessible to these places so you don't need to worry too much.

Me and Hagia Sofia <3

Acah2 posing belakang statue tu. According to history, that statue was stolen from Egypt, brought all the way here to Turkey. And it's actually big!!

Where should you go? You can browse around the internet. It'll be fun!

Oh yes. I also went to a place called the Princes Islands. Islands. Yes. Because the Princes Islands comprises of 4 or 5 Islands if I am not mistaken. I've been to two. And what's so special about these Island is that no motorized vehicle is allowed on the Island. So when you go there, it's very peaceful and the architecture of the buildings and houses are very beautiful. So pwettyyyyy. Here! Take a look! ;)

To get to the Island, I took a ferry from Kadikoy jetty to ADALAR. There are ferries going to Eminonu and Karakoy. So make sure you find the right terminal. Find the terminal going to Princes Islands/Adalar.

I've swam in the straits of Bosphorus. Hoyeahh

Such a peaceful and a quiet Island, seriously!

Except if you have a friend trying to annoy you by throwing stones into the sea infront of you -.-

Last thing to do? ENJOY YOUR TIME HERE!

So that sums up the 10 things you should know about Istanbul. I have been here for two weeks, and my writings are based on my personal observations and experience. My perception might be different from yours but I hope you find this post useful. I'm happy to share.

For any further questions, feel free to email me at izzatzaid1015@gmail.com.
I'd be happy to share whatever I can share. :)

Let me know if you're coming to Istanbul!

Snow Walk @ I-City Shah Alam

Throwback January 2014

Malaysia is a famous country known for it's hot weather. We Malaysians either experience the hot sun or the wet rain. No winter, no spring, no autumn. Sigh..

But wait!

Hey who said we couldn't experience the ice and the cold?

Let me bring you to a cool place in Malaysia where you can experience snow.
Located at the capital of Selangor, Snow Walk @ I-City Shah Alam is the perfect place to go.

Here's the details for Snow Walk @ I-City:

Ticket price: RM25 (adult), RM20 (children)

I'm not really sure if there is an increase in the pricing now. Since GST is now applied. So better check. Probably it won't differ much.

Anyway, I went there with my dad and my youngest brother.
It was funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! I'm telling you. Will be even fun-er if you spend your time with family or friends who are as crazy as you. Haha.

So want to take a sneak peak inside?

Here you go!

Happy me :D

Adults can play this too. Well, I did!

Decorations inside, you can find many more of these :)

We used our own jumpers and jackets.

I think my dad is adorable. Hehehe

It's freezinggggg cold inside!

Oh yes, it is also advisable that you bring your own sweater, gloves and other items necessary to keep you warm inside the icy coldness. Unless you are willing to pay extra and use sweaters worn by thousands other people ehehe :D

There are many more attractions actually at I-City Shah Alam. Waterpark, Museums. Archery, and the scenery during night time is also nice. I would love to go there again and have a nice and relaxing date with my husband, one day in the future. :D

Sekian.
Thank you.

First Marathon: TM Fan Run 2014

Back in September 2014.

Just to share some thoughts and experience.

Today marks the end of my 1st week of new semester and I felt really great. Like super duper great!
Alhamdulillah I started my new semester with a positive mindset. and I am happy about it. ^_^

Went to a marathon event. I actually wanted to join the 5km run but the time I register it was already full. So I took the next shortest distance, 10km. "Redah jelahhhh" I told myself.

On the day itself. I woke up with a really positive mindset. I told myself, boleh Izzat boleh! no matter what happen, I must finish the race. I set my target high at first, to finish it within an hour. Then when I started running, I told myself don't stop or else it's really hard to start again, But after 20 minutes :

"puff, puff, puff. Nak rehat!"

So I walked, but I told myself again, I can do this! Just push myself to limit, if not I will regret for not doing my best. I continued to run.. seriously.. I remember it took forever to finish 10km. It was really challenging for me since this is my first time. I continuously jog and sometimes walk (when encountering a hill) but I told myself not to give up.

Alhamdulillah. After almost 90 minutes, I managed to finish my run!

*Weeeeeee are the championnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn* background song

Haha. the feeling of accomplishment is super duper awesome! The feeling of not giving up is super duper awesome! The feeling of knowing you break your own record is super duper awesome! The feeling of realizing you did it is super duper awesome! I feel like a superman!!

See how much adrenaline is secreted inside me?

Siblings for life!

ARC team!

Balik rumah mama tanya

"Anis, Amar, menang tak?"

"Izzat, habiskan larian tak?"

Haha. Double standard maaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. It's okay because my brother and sister are used to joining these kind of events.

But I did it! I did it! Wehooo!

Now I am ready to start my new semester. InsyaAllah.

Sincerely,
Proud first time runner,

Gunung Merapi, Yogyakarta

Post ni adalah throwback tahun 2010.

Aku ke Merapi pada tahun 2010. Waktu itu aku masih budak sekolah. Hehe jadi mohon faham seandainya coretan aku sangat comel. Eh perasan.

_________________________________________________________________

HAHA , i got the chance to climb Merapi . HAHA . so here's how everything goes

2200 : 11 June 2010
Dari tempat yang aku stay [UMY] , aku naik van untuk pergi ke tempat kaki gunung . 2 hours perjalanan . dalam van uh aku fikir nak tidur , tapi tak tahu nape tak leh . actually dari pukul 8 lagi , kat rumah , aku try tidur . tapi tak dapat . sume SUJU punya pasal la ! huhu .. asyik teringat lagu bonamana ~ badan aku takleh relax . HEHE . tapi tak kisah lah . dah tak boleh nak buat macam mana kan . so , otw tu , dalam van , takleh tidur , aku main nset je la . hmm , agak2 dah sejam jalan entah kat mana aku tak tahu , sampai aa dalam kawasan kampung ni . huhu , jalan dia macam nak masuk genting . macam ular :D seronok aa tengok permandangan luar . lawa kot :)

0000 : 12 June 2010
(HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMIERA FIRZANA , love you so much! muahx ♥ ♥ ♥)

ah , time ni dah sampai kat rumah abang yang jadi tukang guide . sementara ayah aku lepak kat bilik , aku duduk kat luar tengok langit dan yang aku terpegun , bintang kat langit tu, sangaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat lawa . tau x , tau x .. ni lah 1st time aku tengok langit lawa camtu . sangat banyak bintang dan terang dan lawa .. kat Malaysia even hari2 tengok langit , tak pernah jumpa permandangan selawa tu . know what , my heart is throbbed at the moment . It was soooooooooooooo beautiful , subhanallah , subhanallah . memang , aku tak tahu macam mana nk gambarkan . tapi permandangan tu aku sendiri tak pernah tengok dengan mata sendiri selama 17 tahun aku hidup. cantikkkkkkkkkk ! kalau dari hotel kat sini , takde la terang macam tu , tapi kat kaki gunung uh , ya Allah , aaaa .. sangatx10000 cantik . aku excited lak ! ahahaha . tp aku lupa nak amek gambar . ahh , tapi memang lah . smpai je situ , aku dah seronok , tengok bintang . aku rasa dah macam nampak 1 bimasakti . the whole . terlampau banyak , packed gila langit . fuhh , dah la . rasanya kalau nk cakap pasal bintang ni , boleh jadi tak sambung cerita aku ni . HAHA .

ayah aku cakap , start mendaki pukul 1 pagi , so meanwhile tu lepak la kat rumah kat situ . and then tak lama tu datang satu lagi group . 3 orang . from France . :D hmm , dalam sejam tu , tau2 je la ayah aku , peramah dia tu kat mana2 je . :D so , macam2 dia borak . ada je topik . huhu . and ayah aku boleh cakap French ! kenapa aku tak tahu ? =_=' he's my dad . banyak lagi rahsia dia aku tak tahu ye . huhu . hmm, aku tak faham apa2 pun dorang cakap . kalau English tu faham la .
ada la jugak ayah aku cerita pasal dia pergi negara ini itu . know what ? he knows French , Arabic , Japanese , Chinese , Javanese and banyak lagi .. arhh , jealousnya ! time tu aku diam je , segan la .. lagipun aku tak reti nak mulakan perbualan dengan orang dewasa . HUHU *need to learn how to do that!* hmm.. aku duduk je lah dengar . at this time of the day , suhu kat situ sejuk . belum naik lagi =_='

0100 : 12 June 2010
we started climbing around this hour . awal tu , just naik bukit , ikut jalanraya . ada la kot 1 km , jauh gak la .. and memang naik bukit , no flat surface . foahh , and suhu time tu , around 15 degree celcius . sejukkkk .. huhu , after a 'little' walk , we rested for a while , drinking water and we continued our journey . ngehngeh , before sampai base camp 1 (About 6000 ft) , ada la 3 kali kot stop =_=' . seriously , aku cakap aku tak fit ! arhh , stamina tu ada , tapi tak fit . banyak kali kena tegur ngan abah sebab bernafas sambil jalan . well , banyak la technique mendaki yang ayah aku ajar , antaranya :

1 . mendaki jangan banyak bernafas .
2 . badan straight , jangan pandang bawah so tak payah inhale banyak oxygen , cepat penat .
3 . langkah jangan besar . nanti banyak guna tenaga .
4. jangan step atas batu , takut tergelincir .
5. jangan lalu ikut rumput .

banyak lagi lah . hmm , secara jujur , ayah aku panjat relax je .. tapi aku ? cehh , dalam 1/2 jam mendaki berhenti minum air , for oxygen dude .. tapi sekejap je la . memang ah , aku x fit sangat . nasib baik tak pancit . mwahaha . need to learn the breathing techniques used for sports . ah , kecewa gak la ngan diri sendiri kan . tapi takpe ah . :) after 2 jam hiking , climbing , sampai jugak kat base camp 1 . time ni kol 3 pagi . ohh yea , ni 1st time gak aku naik gunung time malam . sebelum2 ni , pagi , so xguna torchlight . kali ni memang bergantung kat lampu . kalau tak dah lama maut =_=' . takut gak ah , certain2 time aku ngantuk , rasa cam nak tidur je . tengah panjat ni , haha , sebelah tu gaung . ada 2 kali kot tergelincir . berdebar gila hati ! sikit lagi nak jatuh . fuhh , still alhamdulillah sampai jugak base camp 1 . ahh , time tu sejuk . makin sejuk .. aku sempat jugak la tidur 10 minit . ngantukkkkkkkk ~ :D kat sini permandangan dia not bad . rumah2 nampak cam semut je . banyak lampu . huhu ..

0300 : 12 June 2010
kol 3 lebih la. continue naik , dan part ni dah start mencabar sikit sebab dah masuk part batu bata . well . actually tanah kat situ dari lava gunung berapi yang dah keras . HOHO . so , kinda hard there . kat sini , aku takut , sebab makin susah and mencabar . nak pandang belakang pun tak berani , sebab nampak curam je kat bawah . huhu , ada la kot 2 jam climbing before sampai ke part before jalan nak sampai puncak.

oke , part ni . bukan setakat batu je belambak kat situ , ppkok nak bergantung pun dah takde . ada la tapi 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 je kot . tak lebih yang aku perasan . huhu .. time ni , ahh , memang kena careful gila gila . kasut pun kalau takde grip , dah lama dah boleh mati dalam iman . fuhh , because kadang2 susah sebab nak tergelincir dan tiada tempat untuk berpaut . orang guide tu cakap , ni jalan shortcut lebih kurang , so , memang jalan ni tak di galakkan lalu sebab bahaya . especially kalau hujan , memang TAK boleh ikut jalan ni . ahh , ayah aku pun cakap bahaya . time ni jugak aku tak berani pandang belakang . imagine , tanah and batu je , and curam dia about 60 degree . ni betul2 climbing , huahua .. seraaaaaaaaaaam tau x .

0430 ; 12 June 2010

ahh , dekat2 la . time ni dah dekat final part before sampai puncak . ohh , umm .. time ni la .. dengar azan . wahh :) tenang sikit jiwa . huu .. final part , semua batu , besar2 pulak tu . hmm .. penat dah kat sini , dan ngantuk . (yawnn) . tapi akhirnya sampai jugak ! yay !!

0515 ; 12 June 2010 .
yahh ! Alhamdulillah sampai puncak . 1st sampai , ada kubur kat atas tu , peringatan untuk orang yang meninggal kat atas . hmm .. time ni , dah start sejuk .. around 7 degree celcius .. sejuk .. aku letak beg and solat subuh kat atas tu . wahh , seronok kot ada pengalaman camni :) solat atas tanah , seriously rasa rendah diri tapi perasaan tu wonderful .. satu rasa yang boleh aku kata nikmat . hehe .. dh hbs tu aku duduk2 je , actually , ada lagi 1 kilometre lebih kurang , untuk pergi ke kawah gunung berapi . tapi err .. tak cukup keyakinan diri la .. nak naik tu , 80 degree .. mmg tengok pun ... haaaaa .. aku nak naik ! menyesal kot tak naik , tapi entah , dengan kepala aku tak berapa nak betul , still sleepy , aku takut jugak nak pertaruhkan nyawa aku . one thing yang ayah aku cakap buat aku cuak ,

this gunung is not something you can take for granted .

dan

gunung ni 10x ganda lagi susah dari kinabalu .

HOHO , kalau abah sendiri cakap camtu , memang kena careful la . tapi takpe lah , tak tengok kawah pun , at least dapat tawan puncak atas tu .. yahhh !!

0600 ; hari sama lah =_='

masa ni , suhu dia makin kurang , ayah aku cakap dalam 5 darjah celcius . wahh , bila bernafas pun dah keluar asap . *Asap ke ? what do they call it ? but memang sejuk la .. sampai kan 1 jam lebih aku tak buat apa2 but menggigil . time ni pun , 4 lapis baju aku pakai . 2 t-shirt kt dalam , 1 sweater and luar sekali baju sejuk yang tebal uh . tapi still tak dapat buat apa except menggigil . angin kuat kot kat atas tu . brrrrr.. yang aku terkejut , ayah aku cakap bibir aku biru dah . hoho ! x sangka lak sejuk smpai camtu sekali . hmm , sejuk lah ! :D nak tidur pun tak boleh , grr ..

tak kisah lah , aku try isi perut , tapi nak termuntah tengok makanan . HAHA . so makan roti sekeping je . *ceh , kesian kan ? :D HAHA . takde ah . oke la tu , daripada muntah kat atas tu.. lagi tak larat . (nak muntah sebab tak cukup stamina . :D ) lepak je la kat atas tengok permandangan and tak buat apa2 . sikit2 amek gambar kat puncak :)

ah , alhamdulillah , dah sampai bawah , kaki aku dah shaking , aku sendiri tak leh nk stop . maybe sebab penat sangat kot kaki , nak berdiri pun tak larat . hmm , aku sampai terus mandi dan tukar baju .. air dia mak aihhh .. sejuk !! menggigil aku pastu .. sempat ah tidur sekejap before balik UMY . :) 1200 ; 12 June 2010 sampai hotel . wallaaaaaahh .. tidur !! :) tapi sekejap2 bangun . HOHO .. online , makan , solat . pastu tidur balik.. ohh yeah , nikmat kot . ^_^

oke . itu je lah . panjang lebar kot cerita aku , HAHA confirm ada tertidur baca kan . xpe , aku kisah apa . aku tak nak lupa benda ni . so let me post it here .. :) hmm , last kan , sekarang ni .. aku tak dapat nak percaya lagi yang aku berjaya sampai atas .. arghhh .. aku fikir balik tapi aku tak tahu mana logik akalnya aku dapat tawan gunung ni . time turun tu , sangat jauhhhhh .. tak perasan lak sume ni masa naik ? maybe ye kot , kepala aku mamai time naik . so xsedar sangat , huh , BAHAYANYA ! sengal la jat... tak patut tak patut .. takpe lah , yang penting selamat sampai :) yayy !! whoaa .. I dah tawan gunung berapi 9000 kaki . *kinabalu 12000 . sikit lagi tu . lepas SPM ajak abah g KINABALU . :) jom jom , jom lah ikut sekali . Kinabalu senang kot , tangga , jambatan , sume dah tersedia . bukan batu kosong cam kat sini =_=' ah , dan juga aku perlu tingkatkan stamina . hee .. kan best kalau aku ni jai .. stamina tinggi . whoa !! takpe ah , best apa jadi diri aku . kan ? nak jadi aku tak ? HEHE >.<

THIS IS THE TRUE ADVENTURE !! LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE IT :)
